In 2020, Universal Audio enlisted David Bock of Bock Audio to design a new line of premium tube and FET condenser microphones based on his most cherished designs. Manufactured in Santa Cruz, California, the Universal Audio Bock 187 is a large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone that features a cardioid polar pattern, high-quality through-hole components, and timeless UA design for the professional engineer and recording artist.
 

The 187 is a take on the '87 - widely considered the gold standard of microphones in modern audio recording. For over 50 years, it has been used in recording studios all over the world to capture award-winning performances. Adored for its smooth, refined sound, this classic large diaphragm condenser mic will instantly bring any instrument to life. While originals feature a selectable omnidirectional, cardioid, and bi-directional polar patterns, this version utilizes a fixed cardioid. A rumble filter at 50 Hz keeps out unwanted low frequencies. The built-in fat switch instantly beefs up your sound - ideal for drums and for electric guitar!
